Somerset’s Vice Lord-Lieutenant Ted Allen attended the 2024 Avon & Somerset Outstanding Policing Awards, held at the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery. It was hosted by the Police and Crime Commissioner and Chief Constable and presented by Alex Lovell from ITV. There were a range of award presentations to officers and staff from across the Avon & Somerset Police area. The event was attended by the Lord Lieutenants of of Gloucester and Bristol, and the High Sheriffs of Bristol and Somerset, amongst many other guests. Categories included Caring, Values, Inclusivity, Courage, Innovation, Leadership and collective team excellence. There were individual awards for volunteering in policing, staff member and Police Officer of the year and lifetime achievement awards presented to seven employees who collectively have devoted over 250 years to policing and support in the Avon & Somerset Police area.
